The Flagstaff International Film Festival (FIFF) proudly announces the launch of the Northern Arizona Film Society—an initiative bringing the best in independent cinema to Flagstaff and the Northern Arizona region. The program showcases acclaimed films from prestigious film festivals like Cannes, Sundance, Venice, and Toronto, offering audiences an opportunity to experience compelling stories and artistic achievements from around the world.
The Northern Arizona Film Society aims to build a vibrant film culture by connecting filmmakers with enthusiasts. Each screening includes post-film discussions and networking events that encourage dialogue and creative collaboration. By celebrating storytelling and cinema, this initiative strengthens bonds between creators and audiences while uniting our region's creative community.
The inaugural screening for the Northern Arizona Film Society is scheduled for February 17 and will feature the documentary “Blink.� Tickets are $6 and the event runs from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Doors open at 6:00 PM, followed by the screening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and networking from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. “Blink,� a 2024 American documentary directed by Edmund Stenson and Daniel Roher, follows a Canadian family’s global journey to help their children experience Earth’s beauty before losing their vision to a rare genetic disorder. Produced by National Geographic Documentary Films, the film premiered at the 51st Telluride Film Festival on August 30, 2024, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The launch of the Northern Arizona Film Society is just one of several programs FIFF is introducing this year. This April, FIFF welcomes back the State 48 Hour Film Project—a competition where Arizona filmmakers write, shoot, and edit a short film in just 48 hours. FIFF is also launching its first-ever Documentary Lab to support U.S.-based filmmakers developing non-fiction projects. The lab offers mentorship opportunities and will award a $1,000 grant to one exceptional filmmaker. Documentary Lab submissions are open now until June.
