Watershed moments: Grand Canyon Youth celebrates 25 years of community and evolution

Somewhere on the banks of the Colorado River beneath the mighty stone walls of the lower Grand Canyon, Haile Nelson was lost.

Physically, she had her bearings straight. Her safety, along with the other dozen or so teens, was in the kind and capable hands of a Grand Canyon Youth river guide, but emotionally, she found herself in a holding pattern, a limbo of self-doubt and uncertainty, one that so many young people in this world struggle to escape.
