SNOWY LIGHTS

December 9 is a big day for Flagstaff. There are a ton of events that adults and kids have the opportunity to take advantage of including the annual Holiday Parade of Lights and the Snowflake Festival. The latter starts the day with a variety of activities including Skate at the Station and a Meet and Greet with Santa and Ms. Claus. There is also a holiday arts market that will feature a ton of local work from notable local artists. The festival starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m., but the fun does not stop there. Each year, the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce and Vora Financial come together to present a beautiful display of lights during Flagstaff’s Parade of Lights. With almost 100 entries lighting up Downtown Flagstaff, you won’t want to miss out on the fun and festivities that have become a holiday tradition in Flagstaff. The light show begins promptly at 6 p.m. and will end around 8 p.m., so make sure to get there early. Parking spots will fill up quickly.

FELIZ NAVIDAD

This holiday season, be captivated by the masterful creations of Sergio Padilla's Ballet Folklórico during their holiday production, Paseo Navideño: A Christmas Journey through México. CRAWL WITH KRIS KRINGLE

This Holiday season, join your community and cheer up Downtown Flagstaff with the Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl. At this holiday-themed crawl, you will get drink specials and no cover charge with your wristband at all locations. Food specials will also be available with participating vendors. Enjoy contests, games and multiple chances to win prizes that, in total, are worth $1,000. You will find different, fun-filled atmospheres at all locations including Uptown Pubhouse, Foram Bar-Grill-Nightclub, The Mayor and Collins Irish Pub & Grill. Check-in for the pub crawl will be at 4 p.m. and will last until 5:30 p.m. The event starts at 4:30 PM, but they will continue check-in for another hour. The route you get will be determined by when you check-in, but don't worry, you will have time to get to all of the locations and participate in all of the games and contests. SCREWBALL SCROOGE

The holiday season is approaching once again, which means it’s almost time to start hyping yourself up with some Christmas classics. It’s a Wonderful Life,ÌýMiracle on 34th Street,ÌýDie Hard; it’s great to revisit stories like these, but sometimes, they get even better when there’s a little twist. This month,Ìý°Õ³ó±ð²¹³Ù°ù¾±°ì´Ç²õÌýis taking Charles Dickensâ€� iconic ghost story and flipping it on its head with music, dance and lots of Flag-related humor. A Christmas Carol: A Twisted Musical Comedy is shaping up to be one of Theatrikos’s biggest performances with a cast of 33 between the ages of 6 and 70, a crew of 30 and a lot of audience engagement. The main beats of the story remain the same, but instead of being set in old London, it’s set in old Flagstaff. You’re bound to recognize some of the landmarks and maybe even some of the characters. PINING FOR THE NEW YEAR

The Great Pinecone Drop is back, baby. More than two decades ago, the event began as a way to ring in the new millennium and honor the Weatherford Hotel’s 100-year anniversary, but since then, it has become a New Year’s Eve tradition that brings together thousands of Flagstaffians to celebrate the old year and welcome the new one. It’s a free event for all those who want to attend, and if you’re interested in a fancier celebration, the Weatherford offers VIP tickets to the show on their balcony and a delicious dinner; however, if you’ve got kids and luxury isn’t really your style, a family-friendly Noon Year’s Eve is going to be held in Heritage Square earlier that day. They will have a ton of activities including pinecone art, live music, noisemakers and a countdown to noon followed by lots of celebratory kisses � Hershey’s kisses, that is.
