Grab your leash and your walking shoes, Paws 4 Hope is back for a tail-wagging good time! Happening Saturday, May 3, at Bushmaster Park, this free community festival runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is the perfect way to spend a spring morning with your furry friends, all while supporting a powerful cause. Presented by Purina and Warner’s Nursery, the event benefits Cancer Support Community Northern Arizona (CSCAZ), offering support and hope to individuals and families impacted by cancer. The day kicks off with the Tails & Trails Fund Run / Relay for Hope, sponsored by Midtown Animal Clinic -- a one-mile fun run where participants (and their pups) can raise funds and awareness for CSCAZ. Explore the Bark & Discover Pavilion, where you’ll find pet-friendly vendors, treats, accessories and even goodies for pet parents. The Northern Arizona Film Society (NAFS), in partnership with Coconino Community College, proudly presents a special screening of “Sweetwater� on May 6 at Theatrikos Theatre Company. This powerful film tells the remarkable true story of Nathaniel “Sweetwater� Clifton, the trailblazing Harlem Globetrotter who shattered racial barriers to become the first Black player in the NBA. Written and directed by Martin Guigui, Sweetwater brings Clifton’s legacy to life with a dynamic performance by Everett Osborne in the title role.
