As Flagstaff ventures further and further into the latter half of the year, the snow, the cold and the subsequent heating bills become impossible to ignore. For people who aren’t on the grid or just prefer to have their house heated by an old fashioned fireplace, stockpiles of wood and fireplace upkeep occupy their mind, and since snow and cold snaps are inevitable in this mountain town, it’s important that fireplace maintenance and installation be done by a trusted and reputable company, a company like Wizard’s Hearth and Home.

Wizard’s Hearth and Home began as a one-man operation in 1984. Back then, it was a local chimney sweep company in Munds Park owned by Jack Wofford, a Pinewood Fire Department volunteer. During the formative years of the company, Wofford cleaned, repaired and inspected fireplaces and chimneys exclusively in Munds Park, but his small business began to expand as the community started recommending his services to people in Flagstaff. Over the years, his little home business took off and had quite the glow-up as the decades passed by. 365betÌåÓýÔÚÏßÊÀ½ç±, Wizard’s Hearth and Home has two locations and a staff large enough to service all of northern Arizona.

“We service a lot of the surrounding Flagstaff areas that either don’t have access to natural gas or choose to use a wood burning fireplace, said Jackie Shantz, Wofford’s daughter who took over the business last July when Wofford semi-retired to a part-time position in the company. Shantz operates the business alongside her husband Joel. “We cover Bellemont, Parks, Munds Park, Doney Park and parts of the reservation. We do the Pinon School District every year; we go out to Tuba City a couple of times We have an engagement soon to go to Second Mesa. We go pretty far out.

Wizard’s Hearth and Home is one of, if not the largest chimney sweep company in the state. While the scope of their service area is impressive, what really matters is the quality of their work. Since some families rely on their fireplace for warmth, it's good to know that anyone who uses Wizard’s Hearth and Home for their services is in good hands because the fireplace company is licensed with the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

“We always go above and beyond for every customer because what they say, and what they want matters. Shantz said. “All of our technicians that go out to do a repair or an installation or an inspection are trained and certified with the National Fireplace Institute. So, whenever we send someone out, we want the customer to be able to trust their expertise and know that they're getting exactly what they want and need from us. Our goal is to always help the customer do what’s best for keeping them and their family warm.

Of course, Wizard’s Hearth and Home does more than inspection and installations. In its showroom in Flagstaff, it has a variety of gas and wood stoves and fireplaces from brands like Quadra-Fire and Heatilator. It also carries stove accessories, cleaning supplies, log sets, compressed firewood and more. On top of that the services it offers goes beyond fireplaces, it also offers duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning.

The quality of Wizard’s Hearth and Home is reflected in the numerous praises from satisfied customers. One customer wrote, “Best folks in the business! in regards to a pellet stove installation. Another review said, “They were fantastic, friendly and did a wonderful job. Feels like we have a brand new unit. Highly recommend... With praises like these, it’s no wonder Wizard’s Hearth and Home won Best Fireplace/Wood Stove in this year’s Best of Flag.

“This is really wonderful, Shantz said. “We’ve never really had this opportunity before. There wasn’t a category for us to participate in before, so this is great. It’s really amazing getting this recognition. My dad is really excited about winning Best of Flag since he put in so much hard work building the company from nothing. When he first started, he was working out of his truck in Munds Park, and now, we service all of northern Arizona.
