The Coconino County Attorney’s Office debuted a new logo and seal on Friday, May 23, created in partnership with Northern Arizona University’s VisualDESIGNLab.
“We wanted something that truly represented who we are as an office, and a community, County Attorney Ammon Barker stated in a press release. “Our new logo and seal tell that story. They reflect our landscape, our history and our shared commitment to justice and service.
The new design features the clock tower of the historic county courthouse, the San Francisco Peaks and sun rays, all rendered in contrasting blue and white. According to the office’s announcement, those design elements are intended to symbolize “the heart of the justice system, northern Arizona’s “diverse geography and “hope, renewal and the possibility of a brighter future, respectively.
The office’s old seal was a six-pointed star inside a circle, with the Great Seal of the State of Arizona at the middle -- very similar to the badge of the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office. The attorney’s office said that the new logo “offers a bold, modern look while preserving the professionalism expected of a public legal office.
The VisualDESIGNLab (VDL) offers undergraduate design students a chance to gain real-world experience through collaboration with local partners.
VDL created the current logo for Coconino County, among numerous other brand-identity projects. VDL also created concepts for a new City of Flagstaff logo and seal, but that plan hit a snag when the current city council declined to move forward with the redesign in April.
The attorney’s office will transition to the new design on official materials, including letterhead, business cards and public communications, over the coming weeks. Additional information about the Coconino County Attorney’s Office is available at .
