Registration is now open for Coconino Community College’s (CCC) September community education classes.

The college is continuing to offer community workshops and classes this fall, with September topics including artificial intelligence (AI), local history, astronomy and art classes. Unless otherwise noted, the classes take place on one of CCC's campuses in Flagstaff.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, Colorado River boating historian Tom Martin will be leading a free Comet Talk as he gives a tour of the historic boat collection at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. This will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the national park. Another Comet Talk, hosted at the Page Center on Tuesday, Sept. 17, will teach attendees about the history of granaries and nearby rock art. This event is also offered over Zoom.

CCC’s September art workshops feature stained glass and landscape drawing. Daylong stained glass workshops will take place from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. on Sept. 7 and 14, while the landscape drawing course will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Sept. 27 to 29.

Classes on astronomy and the night sky will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 25 and Oct. 2 and 9, teaching participants about how to use different telescopes and identify objects in the night sky.

CCC will also be hosting a community star party on Friday, Sept. 27, as art of the Flagstaff Festival of Science. The event will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m., after the science night exploration.

Throughout the fall, CCC will also be offering a community class called “AI For Everyone: The Basics,� which will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays: Sept. 3, 10, 17, and 24 and Oct. 1 and 8.
