STAR School awarded grant to expand Navajo language teaching

STAR School was recently awarded a $1 million federal grant to expand its Navajo language curriculum through hiring new instructors to lead an immersion-based curriculum.

The school -- a public charter northwest of Flagstaff -- is currently in the fourth year of a different five-year grant (from the Native American and Alaskan Children in Schools program, also known as NAM) that supports pull-out classes in Diné for its 104 students, most of whom are Navajo.
