The Arboretum at Flagstaff will be offering its Eco-Explorers Summer Camp again in June and July, featuring outdoor learning experiences for kids aged 5 to 11.
The camp offers five weekly themed sessions at the Arboretum, from studying pollinators and wildlife habitats to honing wilderness survival skills.
Each week costs $360 per camper, with a limited number of scholarships available. Sessions are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday the weeks beginning June 9 through July 14.
“I’ve seen campers blossom into confident adventurers, embracing challenges and forging friendships that last beyond the summer, said Arboretum education manager Helena Murray. “These outdoor experiences spark creativity, resilience and a deep appreciation for our environment.
Camp will kick off the week of June 9-13 with Pollinator Power, followed by Creature Camp July 7-11 and Weird Plant Science July 14-18.
It is also offering two weeks of Wilderness Explorers sessions, with one building off the other to teach outdoor skills. Wilderness Explorers I (June 16-20) covers Leave No Trace principles, identifying landmarks and using a compass, while Wilderness Explorers II (June 23-27) introduces campers to fire safety, edible plant identification and outdoor teamwork challenges.
Campers aged 8 to 11 can also camp out under the stars at the Arboretum during one of these sessions for an additional cost.
