Health First Foundation - Northern Arizona recently added two members to its board of directors.

Dr. Beth DuPree, MD, is board certified in general surgery and integrative and holistic medicine. She has 35 years of experience in surgical care and management of breast cancer and currently works part time in the surgical oncology practice at Redeemer Health in Pennsylvania.

She earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University and lives in Sedona.

Dr. Richard Smith is a graduate of Northern Arizona University whose work has included executive roles in higher education, healthcare and youth development.

Before retirement, he was the founding president and CEO of Health First.

“The Health First Foundation is very excited to welcome doctors DuPree and Smith,� said board Chair Christopher Bavasi in the May 22 announcement. “Their experience, wisdom and enthusiasm are huge assets and will be a great complement to our engaged and committed board.�

The foundation works to advance community health across northern Arizona.

In 2024, it distributed a total of $600,000 in grants and sponsorships to health initiatives led by organizations in the region.
