Lake Mary Road is temporarily closed, the Coconino County Sheriff's Office announced at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday, March 14.Ìý

The closure was prompted by severe weather conditions, a high volume of traffic, and multiple accidents in the area, CCSO stated. Access to the roadway will be restricted to local traffic only until further notice.

CCSO predicted reopening the road on the morning of Saturday, March 15, but the closure may last longer if inclement weather persists.

Most major highways in northern Arizona are currently closed in at least one direction following Thursday's snowstorm, which brought high winds and over seven inches of snow. Three people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 40 near Williams during that storm, the Arizona Department of Public Safety reported. Some county roadways, including Stoneman Lake Road and Perkinsville Road, have also been closed.Ìý

Current highway closures include:

  • Interstate 40 eastbound near Kingman and in Ash Fork (mileposts 71 & 146)
  • Interstate 40 westbound between Williams and Holbrook (mileposts 158-289)
  • Interstate 17 northbound at State Route 179 (milepost 299)
  • State Route 89A in both directions between Sedona and I-17 (mileposts 375-394)
  • State Route 87 southbound near Winslow (milepost 338)
