The next generation of planetary defense takes shape at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory

The NEO (Near-Earth Object) Surveyor undergoes adjustments at JPL in Pasadena, CA on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The space-borne infrared telescope will be housed in the enclosure, left, and will look for asteroids and comets 140 meters or larger that could be a threat to Earth. The telescope is scheduled to launch in September 2027.
