The Long and Winding Road: The COVID years

The fifth anniversary of COVID-19 arriving on our shores hit last month. Many newspaper articles, television news segments and online pieces reminded us what we’ve been through, what we lost and where we are now. Many people said they were “over it� when it came to continuing precautions, be those getting the latest vaccines or wearing masks in crowded spaces when the coronavirus surges.

As it happens, I acknowledged the big, dark weekend of five years since COVID by finally catching the damn virus. Yes, I made it to exactly five years of avoiding the modern-day plague, whose variants are named after Greek letters, before I finally succumbed.
