Company reassures after levels of heavy metals spike in water pumped out of Pinyon Plain uranium mine

The Pinyon Plain (formerly Canyon) uranium mine near Grand Canyon National Park.

Conservation groups are raising concerns after a report showed a spike in the levels of heavy metals in water pumped out of the controversial Pinyon Plain uranium mine just south of Grand Canyon National Park.

The mine, owned by Energy Fuels, began mining operations in earnest this year, and has pumped water out of the mine since 2016.
