Applications open for scholarship and job placement program from Education Forward Arizona and Freeport-McMoRan

Uranium Truck

A truck hauling uranium ore drives along a dirt road on the Arizona Strip. Scientists say the public health risks posed by such trucks are low. Trucks would be used to haul uranium ore from through Canyon Uranium Mine south of Tusayan through Flagstaff on Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 89 to a processing mill in Utah.

Education Forward Arizona and Freeport-McMoRan will be continuing their partnership on a scholarship and job placement program for a second consecutive year.

The program is called Guarantee Your Future with Freeport and will provide education, training, a paid internship and job placement to 25 students in one of six technical areas. Students in the program will earn a certificate or credential from a designated community college in Arizona, Colorado or New Mexico, with classes starting in August.
