Flagstaff Unified School District adopts changes to sexual health curriculum

Sydney Tolchinsky

Sydney Tolchinsky is Coconino County's public health educator for the teen pregnancy prevention program.

Flagstaff Unified School District’s (FUSD) governing board approved the adoption of a new sexual health curriculum at its meeting Tuesday, with all but one of its members voting in favor of the motion.

The district hosted two public hearings in April and June on the proposed changes to the district’s sexual education offerings, notably the adoption of the Positive Prevention PLUS curriculum in seventh and ninth grade that will be taught by an educator, Sydney Tolchinsky, from Coconino County Health and Human Services (CCHHS).
