Safety measures at Flagstaff charter schools include preparation, school culture

In addition to securing buildings and campuses, leaders at Flagstaff charter schools emphasized the importance of preparing students and staff to respond during an emergency and developing both response plans and a positive school culture.

Common safety practices at Flagstaff schools include regular drills of their response to various emergencies (with posters in the classrooms to remind students what to do), annual reviews of emergency operations plans and work with the Arizona Department of Education and local law enforcement agencies.

School Safety

BASIS Flagstaff students staff and visitors all enter and exit the school through a secured atrium, which has two locked doors, one to get into the atrium and then a second to get from the atrium into the school itself.
