I am writing to express opposition to the proposed sale of public lands as part of a budget bill. This proposal, which seeks to sell off millions of acres of federally controlled land, threatens the values of public lands and their importance to communities.

While the bill's intention is to provide land for housing and infrastructure, it lacks safeguards to ensure that public lands are not sold for developments that do not serve community needs. The vast majority of Americans value public lands, and this proposal risks privatizing areas crucial for recreation, wildlife habitat, and sacred or historic sites.
