Full closures of Flagstaff’s East Cedar Avenue will begin on Tuesday, May 27, to enable expedited construction on two city projects during local schools summer break. The closures are projected to last until early August, according to the city.

Detours for both vehicles and pedestrians -- including the renovated Linda Vista Drive -- will be available and clearly signed, and Mountain Line transit will operate modified routes and temporary stops in the project area. Business and residential access will remain open.

Cedar will be closed at the intersection with Lockett Road and Fourth Street to permit the replacement of the existing traffic signals with a new roundabout, and between Grandview Drive and Monte Vista Drive, where installation of a new storm drain system is in progress.

The Fourth-Lockett Roundabout project also includes improved pedestrian crossings and upgrades to water and sewer infrastructure. Additional information about that project is available at .

The storm drain improvements between Grandview and Monte Vista are part of the Spruce Wash suite of flood mitigation projects, also called the Museum Fire Flood Projects, intended to reduce the risk and impact of postwildfire flooding in areas downslope from the burn scar of the 2019 Museum Fire. More information about those projects is available at .
