Thousands of humpback whales congregate to breed in the warm waters of the Colombian Pacific between July and October. The majestic creatures travel thousands of miles from Antarctica to give birth to their young. The season of their migration is eagerly anticipated by locals in the Colombian town of Bahia Solano. Around 10,000 people live in the harbor town in the Chocó region, about 405 kilometers (252 miles) northwest of Bogotá. Their numbers are boosted during the whale season by hundreds of tourists who travel there to experience the magic.
