Climate change’s sweaty fingerprints are all over the July heat waves gripping much of the globe; a new study finds recent intense and deadly hot spells could not have occurred without it. 

In the past 30 days, nearly 5,000 heat and rainfall records were broken or tied in the U.S. and over 10,000 records set globally, NOAA says.

Temperatures in Death Valley were forecast to reach 128 degrees Sunday at the aptly named Furnace Creek, the National Weather Service said.

Earth set and broke unofficial records for average global heat, a reminder of dangers that climate change makes worse for outside laborers.
