Arizona crackdown on Medicaid scammers provokes lawsuit in response

A nationally prominent civil rights attorney filed a lawsuit against the State of Arizona on Tuesday, alleging that the state’s reaction to a Medicaid fraud scheme targeting Native Americans disproportionately impacted minority-owned healthcare providers.

Ben Crump -- an attorney who specializes in wrongful death lawsuits and has represented the families of Trayvon Martin, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and other Black individuals killed by police -- filed the complaint in Maricopa County Superior Court along with attorneys Richard Meadow and Michael Burg.
