CDC warns of contamination in pistachio cream; frozen fish balls recalled

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warned early this week that Emek-brand pistachio cream -- a shelf-stable nut butter product -- could be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Three people in Minnesota have become ill from the strain of salmonella linked to the product, and one person in New Jersey has been hospitalized. 

Although a product recall has not been issued, the CDC stated that the pistachio cream should not be served, eaten or sold. The affected lot has a use-by date of Oct. 19, 2026, and the production code 241019.
