The Coconino Panthers celebrate winning the 4A Conference state championship with a 2-1 victory over the Salpointe Catholic Lancers Saturday night at Farrington Softball Stadium in Tempe.

Cody Bashore, Arizona Daily SunTEMPE -- In the words of Coconino manager Kimberly Dennis, the Panthers had the No. 2 Salpointe Catholic Lancers right where they wanted them.
Scoreless through seven innings of Saturday’s 4A Conference championship game, No. 1 Coconino eventually fell behind 1-0 in the top of the eighth inning. However, as they have throughout the state tournament, the Panthers rallied once again.
