It is cold season. As I sit here with small plugs of Kleenex facial tissue jammed in my nostrils to stanch the drainage from my head cold, I count 11 boxes of facial tissue in our house. I also have a travel pack in the pocket of my “writing� sweater. Upstairs, the dryer filter is clogged with the remnants of a travel pack of facial tissue left in the pocket of my backup pair of “writing� sweatpants. I keep an emergency allotment in the top of my “writing beret.�
We have tissues in our cars and in every room of the house. Some rooms have more than one box. Next to “I love you,� the most common statement in our home these days is “Please hand me a tissue.�
