The City of Flagstaff will host a public meeting about the future Montalvo Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Community Center on Thursday, May 29, at the Aquaplex. The meeting is a chance for community members to provide input on the design of the new facility and will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The Montalvo STEM center will replace an aging and disused fire station at 2230 E. Spruce Ave., adjacent to the Joel Montalvo Little League field. In March of this year, the Flagstaff City Council approved a $3.1 million design and build contract with local firm Loven Contracting to tear down the old firehouse and create a new community center in its stead.
