Letter to the Editor: Local suggests city consider Demand-Responsive Parking downtown

Letters

On a recent visit to Brightside Bookstore, I planned to swing by quickly to pick up a book I had ordered. But after 10 minutes of circling for parking, I ended up three blocks away. The walk was pleasant, but I couldn’t ignore the time, fuel and frustration I had just experienced -- alongside every other driver slowly prowling downtown in search of an open space.

This experience is far from unique. Many drivers in Flagstaff know the feeling. But here’s the thing: the issue isn’t a lack of parking. In fact, roughly 30% of downtown is already surface parking. The real problem is how we manage the spaces we have.
