Letter to the Editor: Remember the impacts of Dr. Thomas Drouhard

Letters

Driving a manual Jeep Wrangler across country from Ohio, Dr. Thomas Drouhard arrived in Tuba City to become a second full-time general surgeon. The Tuba City Indian Medical Center had been serving the western side of the Navajo Nation since its inception in 1955. Its growth and reach to thousands of Navajo and Hopi people required increased access. Drouhard was joining Dr. Bruce Broughton as true general surgeons performing a wide variety of procedures across the entire spectrum of surgery.

For their first 12 years together, they took call every other night for the emergency room. They were living and working in Tuba City, becoming part of the fabric of the community.
