Public health efforts developed during COVID pandemic help Flagstaff prepare for future health needs

Five years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, health organizations in Flagstaff are continuing measures to respond to community health needs. These are mostly continuations and expansions of work started before the pandemic, though local health leaders say the experience of responding to the virus's spread since 2020 has better prepared them to respond to different healthcare needs.

Coconino County Health and Human Services (CCHHS) and Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) agree that the everyday prevention measures promoted at the start of the pandemic are still the most effective in preventing the spread of disease. This includes practices such as frequent handwashing, staying up to date on immunizations and avoiding public spaces when sick.
