Ask The Vet: What foxtail season might mean for your pets

Jenny Siess

Q: It’s foxtail season! What does this mean for my pets?

A: If you have a pet with long hair who walks around in tall grasses in the spring and summer in Flagstaff, you are probably familiar with the dreaded foxtail. These bushy plant seeds, also known as grass awns, look like a fox’s tail and have a tendency to get stuck to anything that they can grab on to and stay there!

Dr. Jenny Siess is from the Westside Veterinary Clinic in Flagstaff.
